Training at Dayspring Behavioral Health

Grow your skills. Find your people. Build a career you love.

At Dayspring Behavioral Health, training isn’t an add-on—it’s part of our identity. We’re a multidisciplinary group mental health practice that intentionally invests in students and early-career clinicians. Here, you’ll learn in a real-world setting alongside psychologists, counselors, prescribers, and other specialists, so your training includes exposure to a wide variety of clinical presentations and treatment approaches.

Our integrated model means your clients can receive assessment, counseling, and medication management in one place—giving you a front-row seat to collaborative, comprehensive care.

Our Training Pathways

We offer multiple training levels that often build on each other, creating a natural pipeline from trainee to early-career clinician:

Pre-Master’s Training (Practicum & Internship)

For counseling, social work, and related master’s programs, our pre-masters roles are focused on counseling and intervention.

Experiences may include:

  • Individual counseling with children, teens, and/or adults
  • Co-facilitation of group therapy
  • Parent consultation and psychoeducation
  • Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
  • Learning how to coordinate care with assessment providers and medication prescribers

Many of our pre-masters trainees later transition into associate-level counseling positions at Dayspring, where they can continue to grow with familiar supervisors and a supportive team.

Pre-Doctoral Training (Practicum & Pre-Internship)

Doctoral students can deepen both their assessment and therapy skills in a structured, high-support environment:

  • Psychometrist training and experience in neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessment
  • Experience administering standardized tests and assisting in report preparation
  • Individual and group counseling opportunities
  • Exposure to a broad range of developmental, learning, and mental health concerns
  • Collaboration with psychiatry/med management providers and other disciplines

These positions are designed to prepare you for doctoral internship and beyond, giving you a strong foundation in both assessment and intervention within a busy group practice.

APPIC-Approved Doctoral Internship & Postdoctoral Fellowship

Dayspring Behavioral Health is proud to offer both an APPIC-approved Doctoral Internship and an APPIC-approved Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Our APPIC-aligned programs emphasize:

  • High-quality clinical training and supervision
  • Strong assessment and intervention experience
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary, integrated care
  • A supportive environment that bridges the gap from trainee to early-career professional

Postdoctoral Fellowships

Our postdoctoral fellowships are ideal for early-career psychologists who want to build depth and confidence in:

  • Comprehensive neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessment
  • Evidence-based counseling and intervention
  • Group therapy and family-focused care
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration with prescribers and therapists
  • Professional development and identity as a psychologist in a group practice setting

Many postdocs go on to long-term roles at Dayspring, making this a meaningful launchpad for a sustainable and rewarding career.

What You’ll Learn & Do

Across training levels, you’ll experience the day-to-day reality of working in a multidisciplinary, integrated care setting:

Integrated Care, Multidisciplinary Team, & Med Management

Because Dayspring is a multidisciplinary practice with on-site medication management, you’ll see firsthand how:

  • Assessment results inform treatment and medication decisions
  • Counselors, psychologists, and prescribers collaborate to support each client
  • Communication across disciplines improves outcomes and continuity of care

This environment means you can see and learn a little bit of everything—assessment, therapy, family work, group treatment, and more.

Supervision & Mentorship

Our training programs are supported by experienced clinical supervisors who truly enjoy mentoring the next generation of mental health professionals. You can expect:

  • Regular individual and group supervision
  • Thoughtful, practical feedback to help you grow
  • Opportunities to discuss ethics, diversity, and real-world clinical decision-making
  • Support around career direction, self-care, and long-term professional goals

We want you to leave Dayspring not only more skilled, but also more confident, grounded, and excited about your future in this field.

Who Thrives at Dayspring?

We’re intentional about the kind of people we bring onto our team. Beyond your training program and resume, we look for:

  • Warm, friendly, and approachable humans
  • Genuine enthusiasm for the helping professions
  • A desire to be part of a group, not working in isolation
  • People who naturally open doors, say hello, and interact with others
  • Interest and experience in working with kids and teens (definite plus)
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation and follow-through
  • Reliability: arriving on time, prepared, and ready to engage
  • A good attitude and optimistic outlook, even on busy days
  • A “How can I help?” mindset rather than “That’s not my job.”

We believe that many hands can build something fantastic—and that it’s simply more enjoyable to come to work when you’re surrounded by people who love what they do and care about one another.
